I have just posted my version of a recycled denim apron. I have made purses, bags, dog collars, quilts; you name it from old jeans. If you take the time to be neat and pay attention to detail, some of those recycoled things can look pretty classy. I sell my purses as fast as I can make them!

I'm completely blown away by the cruel comments I see on this page. You don't have to like the pattern, just go on to another. Whoever made this was at least creative enough to come up with an original idea, and they shouldn't be subjected to others and their nasty remarks.

This not too attractive. I'd take the front of the jeans and use that as the bottom of the apron and then use maybe an up-cycled Tee for the top bib and then bind the edges with another matching print. Or take those back pockets and sew three in a row for the bottom and then make a bib top with two pockets sewn on, but get rid of the waist band. I'd also add some color with binding or a print piece for the bib. I find that ruffles on aprons are not very practical if you are really going work while wearing it. Denim does make a great strong cover for gardening and housecleaning jobs when you want to protect your clothing though.

A wonderful idea but I think that th pockets a bit lower on the hips and using the straight portion on the top and a bit of frill would create a wondeful apron. The person who done this wasnt very creative and stylish. It made me laugh too!!

I think it is a wonderful idea, however I would use the jeans in a different order. This style would make me feel as if I were wearing jeans around my neck. Not so comfy. Would probably use the pockets around my waist.

I'm afraid I have to agree with other posters. My first thought on seeing this apron was "that's hideous!". Part of the problem is where the pockets are. But it just looks like someone tried to use up their scraps without thought to making it look good. To me it's only a good idea if it's something you would actually wear or give to someone, and for me anyway, this is neither. Perhaps if you used regular fabric scraps and made it to look finished, it would work.

While I agree that this is not the most attractive apron I've seen, I do think the idea is a good one and a great way to use up old jeans.

Judith! You made me laugh so hard! I wasn't sure WHAT I was looking at.....maybe if the pockets were below the waist.....or something. "A" for effort.

What a wonderful idea! And you can style it any way you want to...make it girlie with ruffles, or use a wide variety of appliques to make it seasonal or personalized! I bought a denim apron last year, and I must say - it can take quite a beating.
