Upcycled Pillows from Felted Sweaters
From the Blogger: "Create these lovely zipped pillow covers from your old and unused sweaters! Felt them in the washing machine with hot water, cut them up and applique the leaf design with the free downloadable template. Sew the two sides together with a zipper closure, and you’ve got a great new piece of home décor! They don’t cost anything when you repurpose materials that you already have and are a wonderful housewarming gift... or for any other occasion!"

Pillow covers from old or thrifted wool sweaters to be felted is very easy to do and a great way to recycle. There is a free leaf and stem template that is much appreciated that goes along with the instructions. The zipper install is a breeze if sewn in first as the instructions indicate. I have used a purchased pillow form to have the pillow cover fit snuggly. Great sewing project.

It looked like a fun project until I got to the zipper part. I have an awful time with them, no matter how easy the instructions seem. I wonder if it would be smart to use a velcro closure? Or maybe just sew the whole thing together and pick the stitches when it needed to be laundered?
