Interesting. I like the idea but they definitely remind me of the '80s. I would try to make them look a bit more modern, perhaps by using a darker-dyed jean.

These look especially easy, comfy and cute! Though I prefer slippers that cover my ankles, I guess I could wear them with socks. And I have a box full of denim to recycle. I will try making a pair of these for my sister in California also. May have to make my own pattern though since it printed out way too small but even that looks doable.

Great pattern and idea! I like the fact that you can easily toss these in the wash, yet they are sturdy enough to hold their shape! A great way to up cycle denim fabric from jeans or even to make from similar fabrics you may have on hand. I love adding the cute touch of a bow or button to the top for some added flare!

One of my crochet patterns calls for plastic canvas to be used within slippers, carefully cutting the curves so they round slightly and using foam (they sell at craft stores and major retailers in craft section)....you can then wash okay. I know one of my fav slippers got totaled when I washed them---wasn't even any point of drying...entire insides clumped SO knowing that has made me bit wiser now that I am making my own instead.

I just finished mine and I already love them!! My feet sweat easily in regular house shoes, but since these are cotton denim, my feet stay warm and dry. I have wide feet, size 8, so had to make many adjustments to the pattern. For the sole I used a craft foam sheet topped with a piece of 1" thick foam cushioning, them just a simple layer of batting for the upper. I didn't use the iron-on fusing at all, and mine have plenty of body. After making the first shoe I realized it would be easier to leave the outside edge open to slip in the foam in the sole, and stitch that up by hand. That was way easier than trying to stitch around the toe as the pattern tells you.

WOW! Great Idea! I've recently grown out of several jeans (the jeans didn't shrink, I did) and this is a great idea! I think I'll adorn it with some leftover leather strips, moccasin style. Thank you so much!!! :D

Does the iron-on-fusing go on the inside of the upper piece against the foot, or the top of upper piece that will be showing? I'm thinking on the top upper piece that's showing, that way the part against the skin is soft and comfy...Cheryl

for the foot bed, crafting foam makes a nice "memory foam" type feel if you double it. Judy

The pattern instructions claim the woman made the prototype pair for herself She must have smaller feet than some of us She also said you would have to adjust the size for your own feet To adjust for sizing Stand on a piece of printer paper and get someone to help you with drawing a line around your own foot This will help create a sole pattern in your own size After that is done you might find you need to adjust the size of the upper pattern but that can easily be done by comparing it with the size of your new sole pattern at the front of your foot The original pattern designer said cm was allowed in her pattern for the seam but if you're not comfortable working with metrics you could allow inch by American measurements Anyway you do it just make sure that the pattern pieces…Read More have enough extra in them to allow for the seams

Have no problem getting the instructions; it is the pattern which doesn't want to come up.

The pattern instructions will not come up on this project; have no trouble on most other projects, so what is wrong with this one?
