Upcycled T-Shirt Flowers (No-Sew)

Upcycle your old T-shirts into beautiful fabric roses!

So—you’ve got a whole bunch of old T-shirts in your closet. Maybe you’re a sentimentalist, and you can’t get rid of that volleyball uniform from high school.

Or you could be environmentally conscious, and you don’t want to throw old clothes away. Last but not least, maybe you’re still convincing yourself you’ll wear that shirt again…eventually.

No matter what the reason is, you can turn those old clothes into lovely roses with this Upcycled T-Shirt Flowers (No-Sew) craft.

Once you learn how to make t shirt roses, you won't want to stop. With this fun project, you can still remember the shirt but put it to good use, either as decor or attached to a new piece of clothing or accessory.

Large round squeeze punch, such as Fiskars Round 'n Round Squeeze Punch (Medium, 1")
Hot glue gun

How to Make T-Shirt Roses

These flowers are so fun to customize with different colors of shirts and embellishments. Get creative with your own supplies. These DIY flowers are so fast and fun, plus they are some of the best stashbusters around.

Step 1.

Using a pair of Easy Action™ Razor-edge Scissors (No. 8) cut a long strip from the T-shirt about two inches wide by ten inches long.

Fold this strip in almost but not quite a half as shown. Punch a circle using a Large Round Squeeze punch and use that as a guide cut out a fabric circle.

Step 2.

Pleat and roll the long strip into a flower shape. Adhere this onto the circle using hot glue. Press down firmly and let dry for a minute.

Gently pull the petals of the flower till it looks good. Using a pair of Micro Tip Scissors, snip at two to three places to make smaller petals at the top. Add a button or gem in the center to complete the flower.

To Make a Larger Flower:

To make a larger flower, cut off the sleeves of the T-shirt and die cut circles using the Fuse Creativity system. You can easily cut up to 10 layers of fabric at once.

First, fold a crease along the center of the circle. Now fold another crease along the center of the circle but this time in the opposite direction. Now adhere a smaller flower on top of this circle.

Trim around the bottom layer if it seems too big. You can add up to three or four ruffled circles beneath each flower to get a really frilly larger flower.
