The number one reason I love making my own pillows is because I can have quality long lasting pieces. I can change my style anytime I want to and it's soooo easy, so why not. You don't even have to know how to sew to make one, simply read through this tutorial and get to work.

Some of the pillows I have made have been from really high end fabric scraps that friends have given me from other projects or left overs from fabric store remnants. I have used fiberfill that I got on sale rather than forms, and these pillows ended up being way cheaper than store bought ones, but looked much more high end! So it can be done! Super design and project!

The pillows are a little to much to do. Easier and CHEAPER just to buy an already made pillow. Yours are nice!

Yes, buying pillows is easier and cheaper than making them, but if you make your own, you get pillows you love instead of pillows that are merely acceptable, or even worse. Also, reasons for making your own things are not always limited to the DYI being cheaper, or even easier. For instance, I have pillows a-plenty, but I do not like most of the fabrics that cover them. I am thinking I will sew my own pillow covers, since I dislike ironing anything. Then I will have "new" pillows that I love for a reasonable investment, and very little, if anything, will go into the landfill. I even save tiny scraps to add to the stuffing of crocheted or sewn toys.
