How charming. I have been looking for an apron pattern for the bunnies and bears I sew dressed in calico print dresses. A pretty dress needs an apron for the pioneer look. Using a linen handkerchief as suggested is a perfect solution for just the right fabric. The tutorial is easy to follow as well.
