I have sewn lace before, and I think a roller foot is a good suggestion! Or place some tear-away paper and use a clear pressure foot, especially if the lace is delicate. I am also thinking that if you have enough fabric, you could cut the piece that goes around the head on the bias, so you get some stretch and if you measure well, you may be able to eliminate the elastic. I have done this with other headbands, using other fabric, not lace, so your mileage may vary! )

Headbands are a great pattern for novice sewers. Ive been experimenting with a few of them myself just lately, using up scraps of material left over from larger projects. But a lace headband is a lovely touch and would make a pretty accessory for a dressy outfit. Having never sewn with lace, I need to ask do you need to use a roller foot or will the normal foot do the job adequately?
