I would not call a jacket with a trench coat type collar a "starter Project" a simple vee neck with no collar would be hard enough for a newbie. The set in sleeves are enough challenge.

I would not call a jacket with a trench coat type collar a starter pattern. I didn't make a collar like that until my second year of sewing classes in high school. That year was called "Sewing and Tailoring" give the newbies a break. A collarless jacket would be ok.

I'd like to make this jacket in red, white, and blue, and ad a big tall hat for an Uncle Sam costume. Thanks for shaaring!

This jacket seems to be a great starter pattern, I will try to teach my 12 yr old grand gal to sew this and design some extra touches for her personal style. An original is always fun to wear. Our family just loves to sew and I have a terrific stash of fabrics to make a few of these coats.

My kids would have loved this jacket for pretend play as well as for halloween: how about a doctor's smock or an executive's jacket (with a shirt and tie, of course!)

My mom use to make all of my clothes when I was a kid. Can't find clothes made that well today.

This jacket would be great for Halloween. The weather is usually cool on Halloween. It will help keep the little trick or treaters warm.
