Woebegone Pines Sewing Pattern
From the Blogger: "Wistful little trees to sew and give. Quick to make and delightful to give. The tutorial includes three template sizes: small – 3 inches, medium – 4 inches, and large – 6 inches (the little guy is my favorite). You can add a little trunk and base or just set them on their bottom. A great way to use favorite scraps and they make a charming companion pattern to one of my other free projects - very nice mice."

What a delightful and whimsical holiday accent. I have seen these done also with a wooden spool of thread at the base. A friend had given me old filled wooden spools of cotton thread, but they were so old, the thread was deteriorating and could not be used for sewing. This tree project would be a perfect use for those old spools! Adding some quaint buttons, lace or ribbon garland or sequins and a star atop would be nice embellishments mixed in with simpler trees! A great project to do with kids, for teachers' gifts!
