Car Seat Swaddle Blanket
Here's a fresh idea on a lightweight baby blanket that you can make. The blanket has holes for car seat straps so you can easily transport your child in this car seat swaddle blanket. Finally, your baby will not be able to wiggle or kick this on to the ground! If you are a new mom living with cold weather or planning on traveling with your baby, this car seat blanket it an absolute must/make. You will not regret sewing it for your little one and they will thank you for keeping them warm.

Nice pattern that makes a car seat blanket that won't fall off. The maker does need a little bit of experience with drafting and piecing patterns but fairly easy to figure out and once done it's a great gift pattern for new moms

PLEASE do not make this!! A carseat should NEVER have anything between the baby and the seat. If you were to get into an accident and the baby gets hurt, it would be your fault and not the carseat manufacturer. A baby should never have more on than a sweatshirt in a carseat or it will not work correctly. Add warmth by putting on socks, mittens and layer blankets on top.

I made this, it's very easy and easy to use. I used fleece on the inside and a cotton cover on the outside. It is very thin and does not interfere with the seatbelt any more than regular clothing. Keeps my little granddaughter snuggly.

Anything that goes between the baby and the back of the seat alters the seat and is not safe. These products also void the warranty of the seat.

oh so you can't wrap a baby in a blanket and put in car seat either, I guess hospitals don't know this little tidbit either since they watch as mother and baby are released and put in vehicle for transport home

Love this. Easy to make. Got material to coordinate with the carseat, also made a greeter deterrant, a crinkle ribbon toy and a stuffed bunny all to match. We get comments from everyone on how great it looks and works. Made this one in cotton material, will have to make another set for this winter.

i love this idea!!! i just got into sewing and this seems very easy to do. i wish i could have had this when my daughter was born... it would have saved a lot of time changing blankets when she kicked them off onto the dirty ground. <3 thank you for the great idea!!!

The PDF file contains only the pattern pieces (click on the link that says "Click here for sewing pattern"; the new page opens into a video and a PDF file). This is an excellent set of instructions. The video is visually clear with concise instructions both for making the blanket and for wrapping the baby with it after the baby is strapped in with the car seat straps.

Very well done! See video for layout of pattern pieces and visually easy to follow instructions. The swaddle is fitted similar to a car seat cover with longer side wings and a longer bottom. To use the swaddle, first wrap the right wing across the baby's front; second, wrap the bottom upward across the baby's legs and front; and third, wrap the left wing across the baby's front. It closes with one small hook / loop tape set.
