I actually have some vintage embroidered cotton dish towels that are quite pretty and would lend themselves well to this project. I think they would get less wear and tear on a pillow than actually used as a towel. And touching them is more satisfying than looking at them in a frame, and what better way to honor the mother or grandma that originally made them? Love this idea as a way to display heirlooms.
