This oven mitt pattern is super and I love the bird fabric used. But you could even use fabric from your stash and coordinating fabric or bias tape for the bottom trim. For added function you could add a little fabric loop to the edge bottom for hanging it when not in use...in fact it is pretty as an art object itself, so why not display it? Super!
