A felted wool hexagonal shape ball is perfect as a throw-around-the- house toy as it is soft enough not to do much harm. The instructions mention how to felt already cut hexagon shape pieces. Knowing how much shrinkage occurs during drying I would felt an old sweater first and then cut out the shapes.
