Since I prefer to avoid hand winding a bobbin with elastic thread, I find this method of shirring to be a perfect alternative. The tutorial calls for 8 rows of stitching into which to thread inch elastic through creating 4 rows of gathering. Six rows of stitching and three lengths of the elastic have worked as well for the same effect. Nice alternative.
