How To Make and Attach Embroidered Patches to Velvet
"Many of you are guessing how to attach embroidered patches to stretchable velvet. I'm sure the advanced sewists out there got the clues immediately after looking at the fabric swatches. For the others, I'm now going to show you how I did it and how you can too. I borrowed this technique from a Japanese quilting designer Masako Wakayama who I meet last year in one of the workshops she taught in Singapore."

Wow, what a change those embroidered patches make to a plain black velvet jacket. I have a similar jacket but almost never wear it because it is so.....well... black! This is such a great idea to pretty it up. I also really like Weberme's idea, below, about putting patches on to a velvet skirt.

This embroidered patch gives that extra touch to this velvet jacket. I really like it. I tried to put a pattch on some velvet years ago and ruined the velvet with my iron. This tutorial gives you some great tips on how to do this the right way. I was doing it wrong the whole time. I would love to make a velvet skirt and add some embroidered patches to it. Thanks for the tutorial.
