When I sewed for my daughter years ago I always liked to use shortcuts if possible and this one would have been great if I knew about it then. You could also cover the opening with so,e piping or bias tape for a different way to finish the inside. I have seen some really pretty napkins, and many times you can find some nice single ones at thrift shops or estate sales! And your project will certainly be unique. Most higher end napkins are linen so they will be sturdy and wear well, but might need a touch if the iron if not a fabric blend, great idea, thanks for sharing!
