Palozzo Pants
"These comfortable, easy to make pants were a cinch to sew in twenty minutes. Three and a half yards of material. Double the material and lay out on a large table or I used the floor. I pinned the unfolded side of the material then simply marked the bottom of my pant leg allowing a 1 inch seam allowance for the hem and cut across to the folded end of the fabric. Then I flipped the pants so the folded crotch faced the unfolded side of the fabric and marked the 12 inch crotch to include a 2 inch seam allowance for the waist. Then I cut the fabric to allow for legs all the way to the waist. I pinned the crotch area together and sewed that first. Next I sewed the legs. Then I sewed a 1 inch hem and folded over a 2 inch seam allowance for the waist. I left an opening for a 1 inch width elastic waist band that when wrapped around my back met my left hip and right hip and when stretched forward met in front. Then I placed a safety pin inside the elastic and fed the elastic waistband around the right side of the waistline in the front, around the back then back to the left side of the waistline in the front. The material used was a light cotton. You can even use a thin cotton bed sheet which is what I did for my first project. "
