Very creative and clever idea! Carrots can be a year round theme, certainly you have them in the fall for thanksgiving and spring and summer too! For a variation on this I would be tempted to free form the design of the carrot into a more realistic and uneven shape, and also do a simple brownish tight zig zag stitch here and there to resemble the crinkles and folds that a carrot has! Of course, that is more work, but each one could be a little different just like a carrot! Under the green napkin you could take it further with a few sewn on sprigs of green yarn or fabric to be the leaves! Fun!
