Love this pretty summer dress. The instructions indicate only one yard of fabric is needed to make the dress. If the adult version of the dress turns out somewhat short, easy to add some cotton eyelet or satin ribbon to the hemline to lengthen. Less elastic lines of gathers might be a way to add some length as well.

My mother used to make dresses like this all the time when I was a child. She hasnt made them for a while, but it is mainly because she lost her patterns during a move and never bought more. I will have to show her this. I know she will love it. Thanks for sharing!

A very pretty summer dress that looks so cute for a summer outing or a nice day at the park or beach. My daughter-in-law would love some. You could use some real fun fabric for this dress to reflect your mood. Can anyone tell me how far apart to do the rows of shirring? This dress may take a little more time than most but I would say it is well worth it. I also like that it only takes a yard of fabric. A great plus. So if you have ever wanted to make a pretty shirred summer dress consider this one.

Hey Mountaingirl. I totally agree with you, it's such a versatile pattern. It's also a great way to make something out of just one yard of fabric. I quite often buy a yard of something pretty at a store and then wonder what to do with it. It would be great to share any other easy patterns using just one yard. I'm guessing blouses are probably the easiest -)

This looks like the perfect summer outfit. I love that it's so versatile - you can dress it up or dress it down. I think this would be a great pattern to make matching Mommy-and-me dresses as well!
