Fit for Pemberley Dress
What is it about the Fit for Pemberley Dress that makes it so romantic? It could be the tri-layer skirt or empire waist that this DIY dress sports. Inspired by J.Crew, this homemade dress maintains all the sophistication of professional design without the heavy price tag. You'll be surprised that you can sew an easy dress that looks like it came straight from the tailor. It may be fit for a grand estate, but the cost of this DIY dress will make you happier than any high-end piece.

I have a large, soft white nylon dress, too large, could i just fit it to my real measurements, make it an empire waist?(like this)and below the empire waitline, just separate the layers with each ruffle?Or just narrow each layer as you go up,till you get to the empire waistline? It IS about measuring, after all.

An easier way to gather--zig zag over dental floss in the seam allowance. The dental floss will not break.

What a neat dress! The name is what drew me in...who wouldn't want a dress fit for Pemberley?

What a lovely ideaconnect the Downton Abbey style dress with a cultural icon like First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. A J. Crew design adapted to the 1920s which reflects the English influence along with the White House imprimatur. And its easy to make, too. I could see this in a pastel for a Spring or Eater dress or a sparkly fabric with a statement necklace instead of the fabric flowers for prom.

Very pretty- I have some very soft cotton (feels almost like silk!) that would work well for this.

I like the pattern, but I think a different color or pattern would make me love it.
