Chalkboard placemats are a nifty way to keep kids entertained in the kitchen. Never would have thought of such a charming idea. Sewing the fold-over bias tape neatly is somewhat of a challenge. An alternative might be to first sew all around the edges with a straight stitch then use pinking shears to neaten up the edges.
