Wow! What a poor example. One of the first things we were taught waaaay back in 7th grade home ec (1967) - ALWAYS match the stripes/plaids!

The Tartan plaid pencil skirt is easy to make from the photos and instructions provided. I would definitely add a waistband interfacing, either pre-formed non-roll interfacing or one cut from iron-on or sewn in types of interfacing. Helps to make the waistband firm enough to minimize scrunching down on itself when worn. Nice project.

I have made many skirts for my daughter-in-law but have not attempted a pencil skirt yet. They are so easy to make. I love the plaid fabric but I am afraid of the pattern not matching when I sew it. This tutorial may convince me to try. Any suggestions for making sure it matches perfect? This tartan plaid would be a great addition to my daughter-in-laws collection.
