MIY (Make it Yours) Bag Pattern
From the Blogger: "Looking for a simply constructed bag that's loaded with features from which you can pick and choose? Look no further: the MIY (Make it Yours) Bag can be made with pen pockets, cell phone pocket, card slots, interior zippered pocket, loops for sunglasses, exterior zippered pockets, and a full face exterior slip pocket. Make it plain or pleated, with or without a gusset. It's truly your own 'bag adventure' to explore. A great project with which to stretch your creativity and it's all in a free downloadable PDF that's chock full of photos."

I made this today. Fabulous pattern, so many different ways to make it my own. I did the pleats on both sides, with the big pocket on the front, accessed from both sides. I will use that pocket as a concealed carry pocket. The pleats completely hide any imprint. It took me about five hours, has few pieces, hardly any hardware....I love it! I used gold on white vinyl for the exterior, and cotton for the lining.

I love to make bags and the more pockets the better. I have a hard time finding one to buy because the never have enough pockets at all or if they do they are too small or too deep or not deep enough or I do not like the way it looks so I have decided I will have to make mine. I love this tutorial because she gives you so many options to style it the way you want. I like the zippers on the outside pockets which I never thought of. Now my only problem is to figure out what all I want on the bag. I think I will use some pretty spring fabric and add some embellishments. Very nice tutorial.

This looks like a fun weekend project for me. It may be a little advanced for my sewing skills but it looks easy enough for me to figure out and push my abilities. I've tried making bags in the past and had gotten super frustrated, but that was way before I ever started sewing as a hobby. I will definitely add this to. my must-make list year. Thanks for the inspiration and the share!

I hope you find time to challenge yourself with this pattern. Taken a little bit at a time, it's not that difficult.
