Gingham DIY Baby Quilt
So you have a baby shower to go to next week and no idea what gift to bring. Luckily, we have a solution! This Gingham DIY Baby Quilt is a wonderfully simple quilting project for first-time quilters. If you're unsure as to what color combination to use, try pairing a neutral with a soft pastel gingham print (this tutorial couples yellow with white, and gray with green) for a modern spin on an old classic design. But never fear—no matter what color combination you choose, this gift will be a hit!
Learning how to make a baby blanket is the best way to always have a last-minute baby shower gift on hand. You could even make a handful of these cuties to have on-hand. This would also be a great sewing project to donate.

A gingham baby quilt is a great idea for a baby shower gift. I do prefer the tiny gingham squares to the larger ones shown in the tutorial. Attaching the bias tape binding, particularly when reaching the corners, can be a challenge. Nice that the gingham print allows for easy straight machine quilting.

I personally think giving a quilt to a baby is something that will last a lifetime. My kids all still have blankets that were made for them at birth. One has been blessed to wrap his newborn son in his. This pattern is a great way for a new quilter to get a start. But watch out, quilting is like potato chips, you can't just make one. Easy directions to follow.
