How lovely this poncho idea is! The instructions indicate six-inch squares were cut from a variety of sweaters, then sewn together leaving a neck opening, finally adding edging of some sort. I would try and make as many six-inch squares as I could from similar textured sweaters to keep a somewhat coordinated pattern. Great recycle idea.

This pattern requires a trip to the thrift store. You can buy those sweaters for a low price and make your own poncho. You will not see a poncho like that anywhere else. It is easy to make. Good idea. Thank you.

I agree. I love going to yard sales or thrift stores to see what I can come up with and using old sweaters is a great idea. So fast simple and easy to do. I need to make one for my grand daughter for the winter because she hates jackets. Have you made one yet?

What a brilliant idea now I know why I couldn't get rid of those sweaters.
