Selvedge Fabric Drawstring Bag
"Don't throw out those selvedges (selvages). Save them and make a pretty drawstring bag. Turn the selvedges into fabric and then sew up into your favourite project. It's easy and costs next to nothing. Make up a combination of colours, or go for a particular colour combo - red, black and white. You'll find that in no time, you'll have enough selvedges to make pieces of fabric to turn into pretty gifts for birthdays or Christmas."

I will never throw out fabric selvedges again. What a great thrifty idea to sew them together and turn them into a tote bag! There is a tutorial that accompanies this sewing project that clearly shows how easy it is to make the tote as well as several other sewing projects that use these functional fabric edges.

Wow, what a wonderful idea. Now, I have another reason to hoard or save more scraps of fabric. I ve often wondered what to do with all of those selvages I get during a sewing session. I love how this bag looks it is very smart to select just a few colors to give the project a more homogenous look. Are there certain types of fabrics that this would not be so successful with? And can anything be done with skinnier strips of selvage?
