Upcycled Sweater Skirt
From the blogger: "Give an old sweater new life using this upcycled sweater skirt tutorial. You just need an old sweater, matching thread, an elastic waistband, and 30 minutes of your time. This sweater skirt is wonderful to wear in the early spring when the days are finally starting to warm up. This is a very simple tutorial and is easy enough for a sewing beginner ready to try out their sewing machine. To help keep your skirt in good shape, make sure to zigzag all raw edges to prevent the material from fraying. Also, if you want a longer skirt, use a size large man's sweater. Take an old sweater and breathe new life into it again!"

Materials List
- An old sweater
- 1″ wide elastic waistband
- Matching thread
Instructions
-
Turn the sweater inside out and cut off the neckline and the arms, leaving only the body of the sweater.
-
Fold the sweater in half length-wise and pin in place so the fabric doesn’t slide at all.
-
Sketch the shape of the skirt out as best as you can and cut off the excess fabric.
-
Right sides together, pin the skirt together along the sides and sew it up.
-
Zigzag up the sides along the ends of the cut fabric to help prevent it from fraying.
-
Try the skirt on again and figure out where your waistline on your skirt will fall. Measure around your waist at that point and cut out a piece of elastic that same length.
